The Four Paws Acupuncture June e-letter

Happy June!

I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather. And of course warmer weather means FLEAS! This mini-edition includes a few natural solutions to those pesky bugs.

Please note that Four Paws Acupuncture will be closed fromWednesday June 12 through June 17, 2019.

I will not be making house-calls or seeing patients at Our Family Veterinary Services that week. Please make arrangements to schedule your pet's sessions before or after this week in advance.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and flea-free June!

Thank you,
jeanie mossa MS, L.Ac.

When Fleas Invade

To rid your home of fleas, get a box of 20 Mule Team Borax (available in your grocery store laundry aisle), and spread it lightly over your carpet. Use a broom to sweep it deeply into the carpet. Wait a couple of hours then vacuum. The residual Borax that remains in the carpet will kill the fleas and their larvae simply by drying them out.

Make sure your pets do not walk on the floor while the Borax is there. It can be absorbed into their feet.

When washing dog or cat beds, towels and sheets sprinkle Borax on them before washing as a precaution to kill any eggs that might be hiding in the fibers.

Herbal Flea Spray

This is recommended after vacuuming the Borax off the carpets and washing all pet beds.

In a large spray bottle mix:
  • 4 liters of apple cider vinegar
  • 2 liters of water
  • 500 ml of lemon juice
  • 250 ml of witch hazel

Spray the natural flea remedy to your home on carpets, furniture, pet bedding, window sills, and floors.
DO NOT SPRAY ON YOUR PETS!
Plants That Keep Fleas Away:
  • Penny Royal
  • Chrysanthemums
  • Lavender
  • Spearmint
