Allergy Relief for Dogs

Allergies can be caused by diet or the environment. If your dog has allergies make sure that its food does not contain soy, chicken or eggs. These are usually the culprits that can cause an allergic reaction.

One of my favorite products to use for dog allergies is the Allergy Relief treats with Quercetin, Bromelain and Turmeric. This combination helps relieve symptoms of itching and sneezing while boosting the immune system.

Please note it may take 10 days for you to notice a difference in your dog's symptoms. This can be taken daily.

These can be found on Amazon.

For humans with allergies!

It's allergy season once again. And our favorite supplement this time of year in our home is the Solaray QBC Plex. Like the pet version, this contains the magic combo of Quercetin and Bromelain. Quercetin is a bioflavonoid that acts like an antihistamine. Bromelain is an amino acid that aids the body in digesting the Quercetin. It is also a pain reliever.

Can be taken long term and will not interfere with other allergy medication. It takes about 10 days to kick in. After that time you may find you no longer need to take over the counter allergy meds.

Earth Day is Monday April 22, 2019

Please use eco-friendly biodegradable bags when picking up after your dog or cat. These can be found at almost every pet shop and online.

Mother Earth thanks you!

Mino gets acupuncture!

Mino, resident dog of Our Family Veterinary Services in Peabody MA gets acupuncture!

While we were setting up, Juanita the cat - another resident of the veterinary office gave Mino catupuncture. He did not seem to mind!

The Unicorn Point! A great acupuncture point known as Yin Tang which helps calm the mind and balance the body. Look at those sweet eyes!

Mino is really relaxed and allows me to needle points on his back. He had some acupressure and laser before I inserted the acupuncture needles.

A few more acupuncture needles then we let him rest until they were pulled. Did some laser on his knees. After the needles came out, I sprayed a Traditional Chinese herbal liniment on his hips and knees and then massaged it in. Ahhhhhh!

Juanita, my assistant now wants to be paid for all her help!

Holistic Pet Services In Salem, Peabody & Beverly MA

Your pet's first session will usually last about 1.5 hours depending on the animal. This is because I first do an entire intake asking questions concerning your pet's symptoms, ailments, diet, medications and more. Most animals will allow me to do what is needed during this session. Others are more hyper or suspicious and it may take a little longer for the dog or cat to cooperate. I do not charge extra for these situations.

The first session also includes an info packet for the pet owner with a list of recommended supplements, herbs or liniments and where to find them. Please note that I do not sell anything.

All holistic pet sessions include acupuncture along with a combination of acupressure, laser therapy, Reiki and if needed Tui Na with a medicinal Chinese herbal liniment. More details about each service: http://www.fourpawsacupuncture.com/services.html

I make house calls in the Salem, Beverly and Peabody area. For those who live out of my travel range or do not wish to have a house call, I am now accepting new dog and cat patients at Our Family Veterinary Services
in Peabody MA.

Happy Caturday!

Nubi juan Kenobi loves acupuncture! This photo was taken in 2010. Nubi was in pain, from urinary stones and we were waiting for the vet office to open. So I gave him a mini acupuncture treatment and he was so good during it. He did go to the vet and had to have surgery to remove stones and a blockage that day.

Nubi is still alive and well at a ripe age of 17!

Cats are a little more difficult to treat with acupuncture than dogs. Sometimes they hide or are suspicious. However many do cooperate! Much more fun than treating most humans.

A few new co-workers....

Meet Chicken Little, one of my new co-workers at Our Family Veterinary Services in Peabody MA. I have never worked with a chicken. Fortunately I am a vegetarian and I am sure we will be BFFs!

King Peesh, who has several other names from what I understand. He is the general among all the other stray cats that guard the office. Love his expression.

Geriatric Garcia, an elderly male who likes hanging out with Chicken Little.

There are several more cats and dogs who "work" at the office. Eventually I will learn everyone's names and their titles. Love working with such a pawsome staff, and the humans who work there are great too! I am so grateful to be a part of this team. Thank you Dr Leslie Siewko!

CBD Oil for Pets

I love using CBD oil for myself, as well as my pets. We use the non-psychoactive cannabinoid type - which means there is no pot in the substance. Only hemp! I started using this myself when I tore my rotator cuff last year. I was in so much pain and all the acupuncture and laser in the world was not keeping it at bay. Then I discovered CBD oil. Ahhhhh! Relief.

Our rescue dog, Quan Yin has some OCD issues and since using giving her CBD oil, she seems calmer and happier.

Some of the Benefits of CBD Oil are:

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Relieves Pain
  • Reduces Stress & Anxiety
  • Wonderful to use with seizure related illnesses
  • Packed with amazing antioxidants
  • And more!
You can find pet friendly CBD oils and treats at most pet shops and online.

We are now accepting new dog and cat patients at Our Family Veterinary Clinic in Peabody MA in addition to making animal acupuncture house calls in Salem, Beverly and Peabody MA. More info at:
